| Well, I've pretty much given up on trying to blog here... or anywhere for that matter. I'm sure you (all none of you who are at the moment reading this) have given up on me as well. Just a couple of quick things, because I'm too exhausted to write much.
- My job is going well: keeping me busy and paying the bills.
- The church plant is going well: slowly progressing and entering a very important summer.
- And, I'm getting married on Saturday. Yes, this Saturday. I've been engaged since February, and neither of us wanted a long engagement. So, that's what's going on with me.
I hope everyone is doing well. Now, it is time to sleep!

| Well, I'm probably going to keep this short, because I'd say most everyone has given up on me ever updating. Honestly, updating here seems to be the last thing on my mind these days.
Next week - hopefully - I will start a new engineering job. I am still in Vancouver, but... well... funny story... and now I have a job. Wanting to stay up here, this is the best way to navigate through support, immigration, and all these things. So, I'll be going the route of the tentmaker, I guess.
There's a lot going on for me right now, much more than I can put into a short post. I know some of you will have questions, so I'll answer them all in advance.
Yes Great! No... not yet. Well... soon. Um... I'm not real sure, but we'll see what happens. Trying to figure that out, right now. Yes, very much. I really don't know. Yes, for now, at least. I doubt it. No.
So, that should answer pretty much any question you have.

| Welcome to all who care to check this site out, still. I have had full intention of sitting down to blog every now and again, but alas, life has interrupted this plan. So much has happened that I'll try and give you all a quick skimming overview of the last 3 weekends.
The weekend of Oct 7 was Thankgiving (Canadian) weekend. Thanksgiving is actually on a Monday here, because well... that's the way they do it here. So, on both Saturday and Sunday I had Thankgiving gatherings. One at UBC and one at SFU. Below is a pic (thanks Suzanne) of our group at SFU. It was a mix of the church group and the English Corner group.

After the Thanksgiving meals, though, it was down to business for me. The following weekend was The Main Event for the year... for the life of the church... or churches. See, Oct 13-15 was a huge student conference that we hosted, in addition to the launch of the new church that I'm helping to start at UBC on Oct 14. Catalyst went well, from most accounts, and included 180+ participants from BC and the Pacific NW of the US. Below is a pic of Steve Saccone and the back of a lot of heads.

This conference was pretty crazy for me, along with my partners in crime... err.. ministry. To be quite honest, I may still be recovering from my lack of sleep leading up to and during the conference. Here's what I looked like on the ride home.

During the weekend, we launched our new church. We took a group of 35 or so from the conference, added them to the number that will come regularly, and we had slightly over 40 people at the launch. Honestly, though, the "true launch" was really felt yesterday (Sat) as there was a group more typical of what our gatherings will be. Here's the church...

Right now, I need to get off. I have to pull my sheets out of the dryer to put them on my bed. I'm tired and I have a fair amount to do this week in preparation for my trip to TN. So, for all of you in TN, I'll be there in less than a week. If you want to get in touch with me, I'll have my old US cell phone (same #), so feel free to give me a call.
There's my update. I'm falling asleep trying to finish typing it, so I'd better go. Until next time... | | |
| Well, hello there old friends. I feel really bad for not keeping people up to date, but man has life been busy. Even my "days off" are busy (though much of that is self imposed, I'll admit). I am not real sure where to start, so I'll just hit some highlights.
First, if you haven't heard at this point, I'm making plans to stay up here... well... indefinitely, I guess. I don't really know how long that is, but I'm here for now and trying to figure out how to afford to stay (after my funding ceases). It's funny, a year ago, Canada was not on my radar so much. And now, I'm even thinking of whether I need to go back to engineering just to support myself up here. Kind of crazy, eh? In the short term, this is not a high possibility, since I do not have work status here in Canada. So, it will probably mean raising some funds. For those of you that know me, you will know how very highly appealing an option that is for me (if you don't know me, I'm very sarcastic).
However God provides for me, I am planning to continue doing ministry work. Where and how and with whom is still a bit unclear, though some recent happenings may shed some light. But, people are seeking God all around, but unfortunately there aren't a lot of people showing them The Way.
What else? Well, the last 3 or 4 months have been a blur, really. Tara came and went in the blink of an eye, but we really had a blast together... and I really miss her being here. I have a new schedule, new roommate, new duties, new Conversational English Class, new flip flops, new friends, new love for Indian and Korean food, new girlfriend, new school program, and... well, a number of other "new" things. It has been a lot of fun, but I'm not sure that I've had time to fully understand what all has happened over the summer. It seems like May was a long time ago, but the time has passed in a flash.
School here in BC just started up - thankfully, I'm on a break from classes myself - so things are getting very busy. It was quite interesting seeing the first days of school on two different campuses this fall. I'm doing work, now, both at Simon Fraser University and University of British Columbia.
ps.... Less than 2 weeks until Mattchews decends upon the city... nay, the nation.
